Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Lead 3D Artist to join our team. In this key role, you’ll:
Define the visual and technical benchmarks for 3D art across multiple projects
Lead and mentor a team of artists to achieve excellence in every production
Deliver exceptional 3D content, from environments, world building and props to lighting and composition
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has shipped at least one AA or AAA title, combines creative vision with technical expertise, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the Vision: Define the artistic direction, quality standards, and style benchmarks for 3D production.
Set Benchmarks: Create reference scenes and materials to communicate target fidelity and performance expectations.
Mentor & Review: Guide and support 3D artists through constructive feedback, ensuring consistent quality.
Hands-On Production:
Create high-quality 3D assets, including environments, props, and lighting setups
Work across both stylized and realistic art directions
Pipeline Development:
Establish efficient workflows for modeling, texturing, and scene assembly
Ensure scalability and clarity throughout the production pipeline
Engine Integration: Implement and optimize assets within Unity3D and Unreal Engine, ensuring seamless performance.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with Art Directors, Tech Artists, and Lighting Artists to align creative and technical goals.
Freelancer Oversight: Review external artists’ work to maintain consistency with internal standards.
Client Interaction: Join select client meetings to present visual direction, updates, and address feedback.
Requirements
Experience: At least 1–2 shipped AA or AAA games as a 3D Artist or Lead.
Versatility: Ability to work across both stylized and realistic styles.
Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of 3D modeling, UVs, texturing, materials, and lighting workflows
Proven ability to work in Unity3D and Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5)
Software Proficiency:
Substance Painter/Designer, Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya
Leadership: Prior experience mentoring or managing a small team of artists.
Quality Awareness:
Strong eye for form, proportion, composition, and color
Understanding of lighting and mood in real-time environments
Optimization Knowledge: Awareness of poly budgets, draw calls, and rendering constraints.
Communication: Fluent English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Portfolio: A polished portfolio showcasing high-quality 3D work, both stylized and realistic.
Bonus Skills
Experience with Houdini for procedural generation or pipeline automation.
Scripting or tool development in Python, C#, or Blueprints.
Knowledge of shader creation, lighting systems, or cinematic composition.
Background in architecture, composition, or photography.
Familiarity with real-time VFX or post-processing workflows.
